Sometimes I get caught up in the franticness of life – fixing, planning, numbing, projecting, sacrificing, compromising – all in the name of achieving my goals and dreams.
This pattern surfaced again recently.
I found myself at the Farmer’s Market eating a piece of Princess Cake after a disappointing morning. I was on the verge of tears and trying to numb the sadness with sugar and distract myself by writing.
Thankfully, because I’ve been in this place many times before I recognized it for what it was.
I had lost touch with my true self and with what deeply matters.
I had allowed my outer life to fill up so much that the path to my inner life had become neglected.
I checked myself – caffeine induced anxiety, everything on my task list felt urgent, my mind was foggy because I had neglected my meditation practice, and that morning I exchanged breakfast with my kids {a sacred ritual} with a meeting.
I allowed my dreams for the future to interrupt my love of the present.
It was time to redesign & find my way home.
Have you lost your way? How can you tell? And, what do you need to do to find your way home?
